De Duitse Site Simway heeft 5 nieuwe screenshots ontdekt van de Sims 3 Jaargetijden. Waaronder screenshots van voetbal, vuurwerk en de zonne(bank).

SimGuruBritt heeft een blog geschreven over de Vampiers en Heksen in de Sims 3 Bovennatuurlijk. Deze is al meteen door de EA Nederland vertaald.

Niet alle heksen zijn vals en groen hoor.

Je hebt van SimGuruJon al over de weerwolven gehoord, SimGuruArgus heeft je over feeën verteld en SimGuruMegan heeft in een blog allerlei maanzinnige wetenswaardigheden toegelicht. Vandaag zal ik uit de doeken doen welke wezens in De Sims 3 Bovennatuurlijk pas de échte krachten bezitten… heksen! Vanaf het moment waarop we begonnen met brainstormen over dit uitbreidingspakket, was ik helemaal weg van de heksen en alle dingen die ze mogelijk zouden kunnen maken in De Sims. Ik vind het geweldig dat je als heks de ultieme keuze hebt om goed, slecht of onverschillig te zijn. Je kunt spreuken gebruiken om familie en vrienden een handje te helpen, of helemaal losgaan en iedereen in de stad tot een pad transformeren. Als ik er alleen al aan denk, voel ik een kwaadaardig lachje opkomen…

En nu we het toch over kwaadaardige dingen hebben, wil je vast wel weten hoe een goede en slechte heks van elkaar verschillen. In de eerste plaats hebben ze andere karaktereigenschappen. Heksen met de karaktereigenschap ‘goed’ zullen meer wensen krijgen om ‘goede’ spreuken te gebruiken. Daar staat tegenover dat heksen met de karaktereigenschap ‘vals’ liever ‘valse’ spreuken gebruiken. Dat betekent niet dat je als goede of valse heks alleen maar spreuken uit één categorie kunt gebruiken. Zelfs de meest zachtaardige heksen moeten ten slotte zo nu en dan een vervelende vloek uit kunnen spreken!

Je kunt heksen in ‘Sim creëren’ vormgeven, net als de andere bovennatuurlijke wezens. Of je nou een mannelijke, vrouwelijke, groene of gouden heks wilt creëren; je kunt je heks volledig aanpassen aan het verhaal dat je wilt vertellen. Je hebt heksen in alle leeftijdscategorieën. Er zijn heksenvaardigheden die Sims zelfs al in hun kindertijd kunnen ontwikkelen. Hint, houd de speelgoedkist van je kleine heksje goed in de gaten tijdens het spelen, want het ding kan zich op magische wijze vermenigvuldigen. Toch uiten de heksenkrachten zich pas echt tijdens de tienerjaren. Vanaf dan krijgen heksen een toverstok, zodat ze kunnen toveren.

Alles draait om de toverstaf! Heksen moeten een toverstaf in hun inventaris hebben, om hun speciale toverkrachten te kunnen gebruiken. Iedere heks krijgt een simpele toverstaf, maar als je Sim de staf kwijtraakt of wil verbeteren zijn er via Kopen verschillende mogelijkheden. Je kunt uit verschillende toverstafjes kiezen. Iedere staf ziet er op zijn eigen manier niet alleen cool uit, maar heeft ook nog eens een eigen uniek effect op de manier waarop jouw heks spreuken gebruikt. Als je jouw heks een zo groot mogelijke kans van slagen wilt geven tijdens het toveren, raad ik aan om de ivoren toverstaf eens uit te proberen.

Maar misschien denk je juist: “Hé SimGuruBritt, ik wil niet dat mijn heks afhankelijk is van een toverstaf! Mijn heks moet kunnen toveren zonder dat dat spitse ding in de weg zit!” Ook daar hebben we iets op gevonden. De Levenslange blijdschap-beloning ‘Magische handen’ stelt je heks in staat om spreuken te gebruiken waar enkel de handen aan te pas komen. Bovendien zullen de toverspreuken na het behalen van deze beloning nooit meer mislukken!

Maar we hebben het nu wel genoeg over toverstafjes gehad. Laten we het over het daadwerkelijke toveren hebben! Heksen zullen steeds beter worden met hun spreuken en meer toverspreuken en -vaardigheden leren terwijl ze met magie spelen en hun spreuken gebruiken. Heksen kunnen bijvoorbeeld leren hoe ze hun toverstaf kunnen gebruiken voor het verbeteren van voorwerpen in huis, zonder dat er nog een sleutel aan te pas komt! Hier is een snelle tip: ik adviseer je om je garderobe op magische wijze te verbeteren voor een speciale verrassing. Je zult een melding krijgen wanneer je heks nieuwe toverspreuken en vaardigheden heeft geleerd, inclusief handige tips over hoe je ze kunt gebruiken. Toverspreuken vallen over het algemeen onder een van deze drie categorieën (enkele uitzonderingen daargelaten): bezweringen, vloeken en rituelen. Bezweringen vallen onder de positieve of ‘goede’ toverspreuken. Sims kunnen bezweringen op zichzelf of anderen gebruiken. Bezweringen variëren van eenvoudige geluksbezweringen tot liefdesbezweringen. Vloeken zijn schadelijke ‘valse’ toverspreuken. Enkele voorbeelden zijn de blaasvloek (leuk tijdens feestjes) en de paddenvloek. Rituelen zijn toverspreuken die op voorwerpen of kavels kunnen worden gebruikt. De effecten zijn zeer verschillend en variëren van het transformeren van verzamelbare voorwerpen tot het schoonmaken van het huis.

Ik wil niet alles verklappen. (Want wat zou daar nou aan zijn?!) Maar omdat er nogal wat spelers naar specifieke spreuken hebben gevraagd, is een snel overzichtje van mijn persoonlijke favorieten wel op zijn plaats.

Een van de eerste spreuken die een heks leert is het overgangsritueel, dat ervoor zorgt dat een verzamelvoorwerp op magische wijze in een ander verzamelvoorwerp kan transformeren. Het overgangsritueel is een heel handige spreuk, vooral als er een alchemist in de familie is. Als je nog wat edelstenen over hebt, hoeft je heks alleen maar met de toverstaf te zwaaien om de stenen tot handige voorwerpen voor de alchemist te transformeren.

IJsbal is een van die spreuken die niet echt onder de categorie bezwering of vloek valt (omdat het eerder een soort elementaire spreuk is), maar hij is zeker leuk om te gebruiken. Wil jij de riolering van je buren kapot maken? Dan is het tijd voor de ijsbalspreuk! Wil jij een Sim laten klappertanden en koukleumen? Dan is het tijd voor de ijsbalspreuk! Bovendien heb je met deze spreuk de kans om een Sim in een ijsblok te transformeren, wat betekent dat de betreffende Sim een tijdje bevroren zal blijven.

Soms zijn toverspreuken leuk, soms zijn ze handig en soms zijn ze duister en gevaarlijk. De spookvloek is echt een van die duistere toverspreuken, want hiermee kan je heks een geest uit het hiernamaals oproepen, die een slachtoffer dagen zal achtervolgen. Er zit voor een vervloekte Sim niets op dan wachten tot de vloek voorbij is, of vrienden maken met de geest die het op hem of haar gemunt heeft. Wees gewaarschuwd: deze spreuk moet je heel voorzichtig uitspreken! Alle spreuken kunnen mislukken (wat soms resulteert in desastreuze gevolgen voor de heks) en bij de spookspreuk zijn de gevolgen wel heel extreem. Als het niet goed gaat, kan de heks die de spreuk gebruikte overlijden!

De vampier zal bovendien niet meer te hoeven vrezen om flauw te vallen door een teveel aan zonlicht. Er is een nieuw speciaal elixer dat vampiers kunnen brouwen. Hiermee kunnen ze in de buitenlucht van de zon genieten. Als je van ************ vampiers houdt, dan zul je dol zijn op dit goedje. Probeer de zonnebrandcrème voor vampiers dus uit en kijk hoe.

Ik wil nog wel even vermelden dat vampiers een nieuwe onsterfelijke levenslange blijdschap-beloning kunnen verdienen, die een aantal voordelen heeft. Vampiers met deze beloning zullen helemaal niet meer ouder worden en kunnen zonder vervelende bijwerkingen in de zon blijven. Bovendien worden ze nooit afgewezen wanneer ze van een andere Sim willen drinken en hebben ze minder plasma nodig om in leven te blijven. Er kunnen wel ************ bijwerkingen optreden na het verkrijgen van deze beloning…!

Hopelijk heb je nu een beter beeld van de wereld van heksen en vampiers. We vonden het heel leuk om aan deze bovennatuurlijke Sims te werken. Het animatieteam was druk bezig met het uitvoeren en filmen van intimidaties. Het effectenteam bestudeerde ijsklontjes om tot de perfecte ijsknal te komen. De ontwerpers en ik hebben fel geduelleerd om onze toverstafposes te oefenen op kantoor. We hopen dat jij net zoveel plezier beleeft aan het spelen van De Sims 3 Bovennatuurlijk, als wij hadden tijdens het creëren! Voorlopig was dit het, maar houd je ogen open voor nieuwe updates, want de game komt over een paar weken al uit. April Showers Bring May Flowers in The Sims 3 Seasons!

Hi Everyone!

I’m excited to introduce to you today the first deep dive into one of the four seasons in The Sims 3 Seasons – SPRING!  As we were initially designing the themes for The Sims 3 Seasons Expansion Pack, spring became the season of rain, bright colors and of course, love!

Weather is one of the new additions to this expansion and a great way to distinguish one season from another. Those familiar with The Sims 3 have most likely become accustomed to sunny weather, but spring time not only brings blue skies, but, occasional drizzle, fog, heavy showers and even lighting. Although rain can soak your Sims, there are quite a few benefits to having a few wet days. Sims can splash in puddles for a little fun, it can help put out fires in your town or it can water your plants.  Also, no longer will inclement weather prevent your Sims from enjoying the outdoors. For the first time in The Sims franchise, we have umbrellas! With water-proof umbrellas in hand, Sims can walk, chat and even run outside without getting wet. 

 

Not only can you change the color and patterns on the umbrella, you can even upgrade them to glow!

 

In additional to weather, colors also play a large part in seeing the changing seasons. Through the thick of winter snowstorms, spring is welcomed with a fresh burst of color. The trees will start to re-grow their leaves, and you’ll see our new collectable wild flowers sprouting throughout the town. Sims can pick and gather these wildflowers to add an extra pop of color to their homes. Although be warned, they may be susceptible to seasonal allergies. Don’t worry though, a quick trip to the hospital to get an allergy shot will clear your Sims’ symptoms quickly.

 

To celebrate each season, a festival will arrive to your town! Each festival is unique to the season will transform completely with new objects and decorations throughout the year. Not only will festivals appear in Sunset Valley, but they’ll appear in other worlds too. You can be living it up in The Sims 3 Late Night ’s Bridgeport, or be enjoying the dry heat of The Sims 3Store’s Lucky Palms while participating in seasonal festivities.

But back to spring. With spring being the season of color, it was fitting to have an egg hunt held at the spring festival. Every day, new eggs are scattered throughout the grounds. Finding these colorful eggs can net your Sims some valuable festival tickets that can then be redeemed for prizes. You might even find some other surprises during your hunt as well. 

 

In The Sims 3 Seasons we created a lot of new ways to meet other Sims. Sims can hold parties, send love letters by mail or even find a date online. Once you’ve found a potential match, the spring festival has plenty of activities for new lovebirds to enjoy. They can skate on the roller rink, 

 

test their knowledge of one another on the lover tester machine, dance and compete for the title of Spring King and Queen or challenge each other to a round of horseshoes. 

 

Or if your Sim is alone (or willing to sneak a peck), they can ask for a kiss at the kissing booth. Your Sim can also work a kissing booth too! If you see an open, unmanned booth, you can send your Sims to offer kisses of their own. With a little charm and appeal, your Sims may make a few Simoleons stealing a few smooches.

With tons of new features and dramatic weather effects, plus brand new seasonal events, celebrations, and festivals, The Sims 3 Seasons will transform your Sims’ lives in ways never before possible.

Of course, weather and seasonal changes are a big part of this game. Whether it’s a spring downpour, a summer heat wave, or even a winter snowstorm, weather and seasons transition naturally over the course of the year, allowing your Sims to interact with the open world environment like never before. But don’t worry— if you happen to live in Siberia and never want to see another flake of snow again, we’ve got you covered! Seasonal Celebrations
For the first time ever, your Sims can celebrate the change of the seasons with other Sims at the brand new festival lot. Any world that you’re playing in (except for the vacation worlds in The Sims 3 World Adventures) will feature a unique festival during each season, complete with loads of fun new objects and events for your Sims to partake in. Sims can get into the spirit of summer by competing in a hot dog eating contest, or embrace the essence of fall by carving a pumpkin and touring the haunted house! Your Sims can take a trip to the kissing booth in the spring, or even join an epic snowball fight in the winter. There’s lots of fun to be had at the local festivals!

Swimming in the Ocean
For the first time ever in The Sims PC/Mac franchise, your Sims can head out into the ocean for a swim in The Sims 3 Seasons! Whether it’s taking a dip off of the sunny beaches of Sunset Valley, or going for a paddle around the murky waters surrounding Bridgeport, your Sims are no longer confined to swimming only in pools. Explore previously unreachable areas in the world, or take along a floatie lounger for some relaxation! Your Sims can even brave the icy waters during winter in search of the Polar Bear Club moodlet!

Snowboarding
Your Sims can head to the winter festival or plop down the snowboard half-pipe in their very own backyards to start learning how to snowboard! Practice makes perfect; the more time your Sims spend on the half-pipe, the better they will get, and the more EPIC the tricks they’ll be able to do!

Soccer
Hmm, I think this is called football for the rest of you? That’s right – you’ve been asking for it for a while, and now it’s finally here! Your Sim can now compete in an epic shootout against another Sim, practice on their own, or even take part in a tournament! Just place the brand new soccer goals in Buy Mode, and watch any open space turn into a soccer pitch!

That was just a glimpse of a few of the brand new features and objects that will be included in The Sims 3 Seasons. Of course, as with any expansion pack, it will come with tons of new fashions, furniture and even a brand new way to build houses with blueprints.

Q: What’s The Sims 3 Seasons all about?
A: With The Sims 3 Seasons Expansion Pack, you can play with life in new ways as you experience fun for all seasons and revel in the spirit of your favorite time of year. Q: What new traits and skills are available in this expansion?
A: The Sims 3 Seasons introduces the new traits “loves the cold” and “loves the heat.” Sims with these traits will enjoy more extreme temperatures, finding the cold or heat pleasant rather than uncomfortable.  Soccer and snowboarding are skills that are new to The Sims 3 Seasons.  As they practice, Sims will progress and improve over time in a natural progression.

Q: What new weather effects can we expect?
A: With the new transformative weather effects in the game, you can expect to see lots of new changes in your Sims’ worlds. From a snow-covered winter wonderland, to spring rain showers and bright summer sunshine, to changing leaf colors in the fall, The Sims 3 Seasons brings a variety of all-new creative possibilities.  Brace yourselves for hail, fog, thunder, lightning and more.

Q: Are there new careers?
A: While there aren’t any full new careers, there is a new part-time job that only Aliens can get by becoming a “Test Subject” at the Science Facility.

Q: What are the new seasonal celebrations?
A: Each season has its own celebration, where Sims gather for festivities, complete with seasonal activities, food, decorations, objects and costumes. Your Sims can go ice skating, visit the snowball fight arena, stop by the kissing booth for a smooch, go on an egg hunt, get their face painted, watch fireworks, bob for apples, enter a pie-eating contest and more.

Q: Can you participate in activities like swimming and snowboarding year-round?
A: Yes, Sims can participate in fun activities such as swimming in the ocean and catching some air on the snowboard half pipe regardless of the season. For instance, when it’s warm out, Sims can head to the beach and cool down with a splash in the waves. During the cooler months, Sims can get the “Polar Bear Club” moodlet by venturing into the bone-chilling waters during the dead of winter.  Sims can also perform tricks on the snowboard half pipe, which will be covered with artificial snow during the warmer times of the year.

Q: What are some of your favorite objects in the game?
A: One of the fun new objects in The Sims 3 Seasons is the diving board, which allows Sims to make a splash at the pool, whether plunging in with a big cannon ball or slipping into the water with an elegant swan dive. The Sims 3 Seasons also introduces umbrellas for the first time in The Sims, which will definitely come in handy for those spring showers!

Q: Will there be new music is in this EP and will there be holiday songs?
A: There will be a number of new songs that your Sims can rock out to in The Sims 3 Seasons. While there aren’t any holiday songs, short musical phrases will be included in the game to celebrate the various seasons

Q: Will weather be able to be taken into other EPs?
A: Yes, weather effects will be compatible with all previous expansion and stuff packs within The Sims 3except for the vacation worlds in The Sims 3 World Adventures.

Q: What are the best new features you would recommend to new players?
A: One of the exciting new additions to The Sims 3 Seasons is “Blueprint Mode”, which players can enter in build/buy. With this new feature, players can create or edit lots by easily placing down pre-made room layouts. Players can modify the finer details of designs, décor and furnishings after they are done placing their selected blueprints.

Q: What is the occult in this game?
A:  The Sims 3 Seasons introduces aliens for the first time in The Sims 3. Aliens are the occult for this game, returning from The Sims 2 with some intriguing updates. Stay tuned for more info about what aliens can do in the game!

Q: Will there be new romantic interactions?
A: Yes, there are a variety of new romantic interactions in this expansion. Your Sims can ask for a kiss beneath the mistletoe, send love letters, use the love tester machine and even create online dating profiles!

Q: What new CAS options are introduced in this pack?
A: This expansion allows you to outfit your Sims with new styles for every season, including snow gear, swimwear, raincoats and more.  There are also new clothing options for toddlers, children, teens and elders, including new snow clothes and accessories for toddlers and new Halloween costumes for all ages. There are also a range of new hairs, featuring winter hats and the option to create completely bald Sims for the first time in The Sims 3!

Het Maxis Label van Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) heeft vandaag aangekondigd dat het De Sims™ 3 Jaargetijden Uitbreidingspakket voor PC/Mac wereldwijd uit zal komen in november 2012. De nieuwste titel van The Sims Studio zit boordevol leuke dingen voor ieder jaargetijde. Zo zijn er gloednieuwe activiteiten, seizoensfestivals en -feesten, dramatische weersomstandigheden en meer, zodat spelers de werelden van hun Sims aan kunnen passen met de wisseling van de jaargetijden. Behalve met het leven, kunnen spelers nu ook met het weer spelen.

“De Sims 3 Jaargetijden geeft spelers niet alleen de gelegenheid om interacties uit te voeren met het weer. Spelers kunnen nu ook echt in de stemming van ieder jaargetijde komen en uitgebreide verhalen vertellen met hun Sims,” aldus Ryan Vaughan, producent van De Sims. “Sinds de lancering van De Sims 3 is er door onze spelers het meest om een uitbreidingspakket met jaargetijden gevraagd. De wisseling van de seizoenen in deze game is enorm realistisch. De natuur wordt nagebootst op een manier die we nog niet eerder in De Sims hebben gezien.”

Spelers kunnen voor het eerst in de geschiedenis van De Sims voor PC/Mac hun Sims in de zee laten zwemmen. Ze kunnen voor het eerst dit eerder onbereikbare deel van de wereld verkennen terwijl ze verkoeling zoeken op een hete dag of een ijskoude plons willen nemen in de vrieskou. Sims kunnen hun vaardigheden ook op nieuwe manieren verbeteren, bijvoorbeeld door een doelpunt te scoren tijdens een potje voetbal, of waanzinnige sprongen maken in de half-pipe tijdens een snowboardsessie. Spelers kunnen door het jaar heen allerlei verschillende nieuwe activiteiten ondernemen en Sims van de duikplank laten springen, waanzinnig vuurwerk laten afsteken, een pompoenlantaarn laten maken of een knusse iglo laten bouwen.

Het wordt voor spelers echt genieten tijdens de verschillende jaargetijden, want er zijn allerlei unieke activiteiten en evenementen die Sims nog dichter bij elkaar brengen. Sims kunnen lekker knuffelen met hun liefje en tot koning of koningin van het lentebal worden gekroond, zich laten schminken tijdens een zomerfestival, naar appels happen bij een pompoenenveldje op het herfstfestival of in de winter naar de arena snellen voor een verhit sneeuwballengevecht. De Sims 3 Jaargetijdenintroduceert ook nieuwe gerechten, kleding en decoraties. Zo zijn er frietjes, verfdouches, maretakken, paraplu’s, sneeuwlaarzen en duikpakken voorhanden, waarmee Sims nog beter van de verschillende jaargetijden kunnen genieten.

In De Sims 3 Jaargetijden doen de veranderlijke weersomstandigheden de schoonheid en kracht van Moeder Natuur nog meer recht. In de lente bloeien de bloemen en kunnen er frisse regenbuien vallen, terwijl in de herfst de bladeren aan de bomen bruin kleuren en de winterse kou de wereld omtovert tot een winterwonderland. Sims zullen op hilarische wijze reageren op klimaatsveranderingen en de weersomstandigheden. Zo kunnen ze ongelijkmatig bruin kleuren met zebrastrepen tot gevolg, kou vatten of door de bliksem geraakt worden.

Spelers die het De Sims 3 JaargetijdenUitbreidingspakket reserveren** zullen de Limited Edition ontvangen, met een exclusieve IJslounge als openbare kavel, een strakke club die in iedere wereld uit De Sims 3 kan worden geplaatst en beschikbaar is tijdens alle jaargetijden. Deze gloednieuwe gelegenheid bevat 12 gloednieuwe voorwerpen die volledig van ijs zijn gemaakt. Deze voorwerpen kunnen gebruikt worden om je eigen elegante ijswoning te creëren.
